a little about me...

Luke Hummel

Some say I am an overcomer. Maybe so, but I believe we all are in one way or another and I for one wouldn’t change my past because it has led me to who and where I am today. Perhaps you can relate. Find more on that subject below in “The Journey”.

As a Voice Actor working from my broadcast-quality home studio, I deliver voiceovers that consistently exceed expectations. My stage experience as a ventriloquist sharpened my ability to embody characters quickly and seamlessly, a skill I bring to every project.

Whether behind the mic in my studio or on location, I feel completely at home. While my style is laid-back and approachable, I infuse every read with the energy it needs—whether it’s the depth and warmth of a soulful documentary, the boldness of an over-the-top commercial, the expertise of an e-learning module, or the vibrancy of animated characters.

I entered the world with doctors standing by, ready to replace all my blood. They predicted I’d face mental challenges and doubted I’d ever walk. But I kept my blood, the jury’s still out on the whole mental part, and I grew up running everywhere.

Ever hear of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome? It’s not exactly fun. Imagine your Dad coaching little league baseball, but you can’t play because throwing a ball might dislocate your arm. Been there, done that. I hated feeling like a wuss, so I threw myself into running, working out, ignoring gym excuse notes, dancing, and even fighting. I found my way into tennis, volleyball, and yoga, building strength and grit along the way.

After high school, I joined the Army, then it was off to college majoring in Business Management with a Public Speaking minor. Along the way, I traveled with a college karate team, competed in volleyball, and discovered ventriloquism. That skill took me across the U.S. and beyond, performing with various teams.

I also built a career outside the spotlight, starting and selling my first cleaning company before being recruited as Assistant Director of Environmental Services for a hospital system. A corporate downsizing led me to launch another cleaning business, which I ran for 30 years. But a chance encounter with a voiceover ad changed everything.

Hooked from the start, I trained with the Global Voice Acting Academy, built a broadcast-quality studio, and eventually launched Script To Life Voiceovers, LLC. Alongside this, I managed the facilities department of a private school before transitioning to part time so as to devote full time to my voice over endeavors.

PS. Remember my childhood little league adventure? As a young adult while home for a visit, I was invited to play ball on my Dad’s church team. He was pitching, I was playing first base, and together we executed a beautiful double play.
